SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) OFFICE PROTOCOLS

The safety and health of our patients and team members have always been our top priority at Marina Park Dental Dental. We continue to practice the highest standards of infection control. In light of the novel coronavirus, some of our office protocols have evolved to maintain social distancing and ensure maximum safety and health for everyone.

Below we have highlighted the key changes that you will experience at future appointments. Please read through all of this page as there are changes to our office operating protocols that directly affect your care. More information can be found in the FAQ.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Patients will receive a COVID-19 screening form via email 2 days prior to their appointment.

  • Other necessary forms will be sent electronically, such as new patient paperwork and consent forms.

  • Patients are expected to wear a mask or face covering to check in. (SF Mask/Face-covering Mandate)

  • Please be on time. Patient appointments will be staggered following a strict schedule to ensure the waiting room is occupied one at a time.

  • Previously confirmed appointment times may change slightly to minimize patient-to-patient interactions. If your appointment time is affected, you will be notified and asked to confirm the time before any changes are made.

  • If you are a vulnerable patient and cannot delay your essential dental appointment, we will prioritize your appointment for the earliest appointment in the day. (Who is considered a vulnerable person?)

  • You or anyone in your household has been sick or tested positive for COVID.

  • If you have traveled via commercial airplane, train, or bus within 14 days of your appointment, you will be required to reschedule or present a negative COVID test after the travel in order to be seen.

RESCHEDULE IF:

CHECKING IN:

  • Please wait in your car or outside until your appointment time.

  • No visitors will be permitted. Exceptions will be made for parents of children or legal guardians/caregivers.

  • Upon arrival, your temperature will be taken with a contact-less thermometer. Patients exhibiting fever (38°C or 100.4°F) will be dismissed and rescheduled.

  • Use hand sanitizer and rinse with 3% hydrogen peroxide for 60 seconds prior to starting treatment.

  • Wear a mask/face covering when not undergoing treatment.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

All team members have daily temperature checks and symptom monitoring. Any team member showing signs of COVID-19, cold or flu will not be permitted to work or be in the office.

  • All team members involved in patient care use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect both themselves and our patients, including but not limited to: N95 or KN95 masks without valves, disposable isolation gowns, disposable gloves, face shields, goggles/eye protection, scrub caps, shoe covers and waterproof shoes that can be disinfected. After each patient, disposable gloves and masks are thrown away. The treatment team disinfects their hands before donning new gloves and masks.

  • Uniforms and clinic shoes do not leave the office and are disinfected and laundered daily on site.

  • Waiting room and common areas are disinfected several times each day.

  • Sneeze guards have been installed at check in and check out.

  • Teledentistry and virtual consults will be utilized when possible.

  • Installation of hospital grade True HEPA air purifiers with 3 levels of filtration and UV germicidal lamp throughout the office and in each operatory to continuously filter, turnover and purify the air.

  • Continued use of intraoral suction devices and isolation techniques (Isodry) in the mouth to capture saliva and aerosolized particles prior to being expelled into the air.

  • Daily disinfection of the entire office air and surfaces.
